How to install mods

Due to Just Cause 4’s file structure being split into multiple folders and a different way of loading the DLC, it’s launch options are a lot longer than the ones for Just Cause 3. For users with the Steam version, this means you will have to use a tool that launches the game with the appropriate engine commands instead of adding them to Steam.

Users with the Epic store version can still use the same way as for Just Cause 3 because it allows longer launch options. So if you use the Epic store version, follow these steps:

  • Go to this¬† page and download the mod
  • You will get a zip with txt files
  • Open the one for the language you want the game to be in
  • Copy everything in it
  • Set this text as launch options for JC4 in the epic launcher as seen in this video
  • Now create a “dropzone” folder in the JC4 install folder¬†
  • When you download mods and unpack them, you will always get a dropzone folder. Go into that dropzone folder and copy all the folders into your dropzone folder to install them

For users with the Steam version, you get to choose from two up to date mod loading methods:

Method 1: Masquerade’s simple mod loader

This method is very beginner friendly, requires no setup and is easy to use

It can be found here, be sure to follow the instructions on the page to get it up and running!

Method 2: Luke JC’s unlimited mod loader final

This method takes some more steps to set up, however you will be able to instantly launch the game and even set up multiple mod folders

It can be found here, be sure to follow the instructions on the page to get it up and running!

Be sure to only use one of the two methods mentioned above. There are other mod loaders, however these are outdated and either don’t work at all anymore or don’t work with the DLC
